How do I make an automation?
Tell your bot what to keep doing, like "every evening, text me tomorrow's jobs". It sets up the automation and turns it on right away.
Tell your bot what to keep doing, in your own words: "every evening at 7, text me tomorrow's jobs" or "each time a deal is created, post it in #sales". It sets up the automation and turns it on right away.
Also called: workflow, rule, trigger, recurring task, reminder, automatisation, flux de travail, règle, rappel
Start with words like "when…", "every…", "each time…", "remind me…", "let me know if…" or "from now on…".
Step 1: Open your bot
Click Bots in the menu on the left, then your bot.
Click: Bots › your bot
Step 2: Say what should happen
Type what you want and send. Say when it should happen and what to do. For example: "If an invoice over $5,000 becomes overdue, call me." Or tap one of the suggestions before your first message.
Click: Bots › your bot › type › send
Step 3: Check the card
The bot answers with a card: the automation's name, when it runs (like "When a deal is added" or "Every day at" a time), what it does (Text, Slack, AI…), an on/off switch and Test it. It's on as soon as it's made.
It also shows under What I do on my own on the bot's page.
What can start an automation
Something happens: a customer, deal, quote, job, invoice, task, booking, or a text, email or call is added, or one changes status (like "When an invoice becomes overdue"). You can add conditions, like an amount over $5,000.
A schedule: every so many minutes, hours, days, weeks or months, at a time, on some weekdays. 15 minutes at the shortest.
Once: a reminder at a set time.
What it can do
Post in Slack or Discord, send a Text or Email, Call someone, add a Task or a Note, call a Webhook, Wait, or an AI step: an instruction the bot carries out with everything it can do, like a summary. Up to 10 steps.
Good to know
From your CRM too. In your team app, open Settings › Automations and click New automation: it opens Ask Alori with "Set up an automation: ". Finish the sentence and send.
Messages to customers. The bot shows you the exact words and waits for your yes first.
Teammates can make automations only for themselves: reminders and messages to them, tasks, notes and AI steps.
Events take up to a minute to start an automation. Records made before the automation never set it off.
Credits. AI steps, texts and calls use credits.
If it doesn't work
The bot asks a question back. It needs one more detail, like which channel or what time. Answer it.
"Out of credits." Add credits, then ask again.
"Your login isn't on Alori's team yet. Ask the owner to add you on the Users page." Ask the owner to add you, then try again.
