What's the difference between the preview and my live app?
Both use the same real data. The preview shows your newest screens; your live app shows the screens you last published, which your team uses.
Your preview shows your newest screens, right after each change. Your live app shows the screens you last published: that's what your team uses. Both use the same real data.
Also called: test version, draft, staging, production, live site, aperçu, version en ligne, app en direct
Same data, different screens
There is only one set of data. A customer you add in the preview is in your live app too, and a quote you send from the preview really goes out to the customer. Try things with sample customers or your own test records.
What differs is the screens. When Alori changes your app, the new screens show in your preview first. Your team keeps the screens they know until you click Publish.
| | Preview | Live app | |---|---|---| | Who sees it | You, in your workspace | Your team, at your app's address | | Screens | Your newest changes | What you last published | | Data | Your real data | The same real data |
Step 1: Look at your preview
The preview is the right side of your workspace. On a phone, tap Preview at the top. A number beside it means updates are waiting to be published.
Click: Preview
Step 2: Open your live app
At the top of the preview, the Live app chip shows your app's address. Click it to open your live app in a new tab, already signed in. Before your first publish, it shows Not published: your address goes live when you publish.
Click: Live app
Step 3: Publish to update your live app
When the preview looks right, click Publish › Publish now. Your live app then shows the same screens as your preview.
Click: Publish › Publish now
If it doesn't work
The Live app chip says Not published. You haven't published yet. Click Publish once and your address goes live.
My team doesn't see a change I made. It's still only in your preview. Click Publish.
A change in the preview affected real customers. The preview uses your real data, so emails, texts and quotes sent from it really go out. Undo the record change where it lives in your app.
