How do I suggest edits to a page?
People at Can comment always suggest. If you can edit, open ⋯ › Suggest edits. What you type shows in green, what you delete is struck in red, until someone accepts or rejects it.
In Suggesting mode, your changes don't change the page right away: words you add show in green and words you delete are struck in red. Someone who can edit the page then accepts or rejects each suggestion.
Also called: suggest edits, suggestions, track changes, review, proposer, suggérer des modifications, suivi des modifications
Step 1: Start suggesting
If the page is shared with you at Can comment, you are always suggesting. If you can edit, click ⋯ › Suggest edits. A green banner says You're suggesting edits.
Click: ⋯ › Suggest edits
Step 2: Suggest a change
Type to add words, or select words and type over them: the old words are struck and the new ones added, as one suggestion. Backspace strikes letters instead of removing them. Your own suggested words really go when you delete them. New lines and formatting can't be suggested.
Step 3: Accept or reject
Click a suggestion to see who made it. If you can edit, click Accept to keep the change or Reject to put the page back. The person who suggested it gets a notice in their Inbox.
Click: suggestion › Accept
Good to know
Search, the website bot and the published page show the page without pending suggestions.
To go back to editing, click Stop suggesting in the banner.
