How do I get my business phone number?

Open Phone system. Alori usually gets a number for you. If not, type an area code, click Show numbers, pick one and click Take this number.

Updated October 22, 2026

Open Phone system in the left menu. Once your account is saved, Alori usually gets a local number for you on its own. If it couldn't, type an area code, click Show numbers, pick a number and click Take this number.

Also called: business line, company number, phone line, Twilio number, get a number, numéro d'entreprise, numéro de téléphone, ligne d'affaires, obtenir un numéro

Customers call and text you on this number. Calls ring in Alori, and texts land in Conversations.

Step 1: Open Phone system

Click Phone system in the left menu. The card at the top, Your business number, shows your number if Alori already has one.

Click: Phone system

Step 2: Search near you

No number yet? You see Pick your business number. Type a 3-digit Area code (for example 514), then click Show numbers.

Click: Area code › Show numbers

Step 3: Take a number

Click the number you like. The first one is already picked. Click Take this number.

Click: Take this number

Step 4: Wait a minute

The card shows Getting it ready ("This takes a minute."). Then it shows what works:

  • Calls and texts work: you're all set.

  • Calls work: texts turn on once phone carriers approve your business.

  • Texts need your details or Texts need a fix: phone carriers need something from you first. See Why do texts need my business details?

Good to know

  • Your number is billed every month in credits: 3.84 credits for a Canadian number, 8.84 credits for a US number (this includes the carriers' monthly texting fee).

  • Phone system needs a saved account. If you're trying Alori without one, save your app first.

  • Want to keep the number you have today? See How do I bring my current number to Alori?

If it doesn't work

  • "Enter a 3-digit area code." Type exactly 3 digits.

  • "No free numbers with this area code. Try a nearby one." Try another area code close to you.

  • "We couldn't get a number for you automatically. Pick one below." Search an area code and pick one yourself.

  • "That number was taken before we could get it. Pick another one." Pick another number from the list.

  • "Add credits to take a number." Add credits, then try again.

  • "Phone numbers aren't available yet." Phone numbers are turned off for now. Contact support.

  • "That didn't work. Try again." Wait a moment and click again.
